Milestones and Pictures (13 Months)

It’s been 15 months since my last post about Holden, and he’s only 13 months old, so clearly I’m not good about being frequent with my blog posts. For 2 main reasons: my first thought when I have something to write about is to put it on Facebook instead, and sometimes I’m frankly just too lazy to write in general. But to make my first post back after an unintentional hiatus an easy one, I’ll do a Holden update.

Holden: 13 Months

SOCIAL:

-He’s been taking weekly classes at Romp n Roll since about April. Before that, he was taking swim classes at Goldfish for a few months and did really well, I was honestly just tired of the bathing suits and wetness and showers/bath that needed to be done before his nap time after. The class he’s taking now is a music/gym combination class. He’s always been a great dancer, can climb our full flight of stairs in less than 30 secs, and can already perfect a half-somersault, so this class is right up his alley. But one of the funnest things to see is how social he is. The teacher has a joke with him that she’s going to get him to teach the class. He likes to grab the class puppy and give him a hug during circle time. But it’s overall really cute watching a group of babies play with musical instruments in a circle for “band practice.”

-He’s started to bring people some of his toys while playing. When Alvie plays with his chew toy, Holden thinks it’s hysterical and if he drops it, he’ll pick it up and give it back to him. Here’s a short glimpse of him happy-squealing at him:

-He’s been able to clap for a while, and is starting to wave after seeing someone else do it.

-He’s starting to hug some of his toys. One day recently, he gave his favorite toy (stuffed elephant who plays peekaboo and sings “ears hang low”) a giant hug while twirling around in a circle with it. He’s also at the age where he can sleep with a stuffed animal/baby.❤️

-He will sometimes lay his head on someone’s lap. He also is going through a Granny-attachment phase and will latch onto her after she puts him down and will push the dog away when she’s petting him.

LANGUAGE:

-can whisper, make the “p” sound, “b” sound, “d” sound, accompanied with “ah” and “mmm”

-squeals very loud in excitement when he sees someone he loves walk into the room

-is just starting to point

-expresses frustration and content along with happiness/sadness

COGNITIVE:

-pretty much understands that all cups are for drinking, even though he still gets overly excited about the breakable ones that the adults in the house use. knows that books are meant for opening and turning pages.

-can stack 4 blocks!

MOVEMENT:

-nonstop.

-can crawl faster than I can run.

-loves to push his walker

-loves to push the kitchen chairs

-loves to push the chairs at the doctors office and rearrange the waiting room

-loves to push the trash can

-loves to push anything that CAN move, even if it’s not supposed to.

-prefers to push his toy camper van around the house instead of riding it

Here’s is a video of him pushing whatever he can find around at daycare. And a bonus video of him laughing after nap time bc a classmate was being funny. I love when my lunch break allows me time to go in his classroom and spend some time with him. And hate when it doesn’t.
